Fundamental and Quantitative Analyst (Oil and Gas) for Glencore International AG

Glencore is one of the world’s largest globally diversified natural resource companies and a major producer and marketer of more than 90 commodities. Our operations comprise around 150 mining and metallurgical sites, oil production assets and agricultural facilities – supported by a network of more than 90 offices located in over 50 countries.

The oil trading desk forms part of Glencore’s oil products trading portfolio. Based in Moscow, the Analyst required for the trading team will be the domain expert for all things CIS related with a strong focus on Oil and Gas. The Moscow Oil Department works closely with the London office, which is the headquarters of Glencore’s Oil & Gas business.

This role would suit a well-rounded analytics professional with strong quantitative and statistical skills together with previous industry experience. This is a demanding role which is deeply involved in the day to day trading activities of the oil desks.

In details, the position encompasses duties and responsibilities as follows:
§  Responsible for gathering oil and gas related data within Russia and other CIS countries.
§  Provide insights of policy changes within CIS and quantify its impact on the fundamentals for oil and gas.
§  Interacting closely with the global trading and analytics team to provide support on CIS related information.
§  Development and upkeep of data structures to be used in downstream analysis across multiple departments.
§  Systematic reporting of CIS-related events and data to the trading team.
§  Development of pricing and fundamental models to help the firm better understand local markets and for use in forecasting.

The ideal candidate disposes of:

§  Educated to master level and above in a technical degree (Engineering/Sciences/Computing) with an excellent academic record is required.
§  Strong quantitative skills with the ability to handle large volumes of data is a must.
§  Knowledge of fundamental supply and demand models for oil and gas will be preferred.
§  Knowledge of refineries operation and oil/gas fields production will be preferred.
§  Ability to work with technical and commercial information in Russian and English languages.
§  Previous coding experience is required. Python is preferable.

An Oil & Gas Analyst is required to have
§  Excellent quantitative and statistical analysis skills
§  Coding Skills (Python/SQL)
§  Ability to work with a wide range of people
§  Strong verbal communication and written skills in both Russian and English languages
